Exploring Muscles in Science

We had a great lesson, as part of our Science topic; Ourselves and Other Animals.  We used chicken wings to investigate how muscles work in pairs and were able to could physically see how when one muscle contracts, another relaxes.  For those of us who chose to, we had the opportunity to touch these muscles to manipulate movement.  It was amazing!

In addition, we learned all about hygiene around the study and use of raw meat in science.  We learned the importance of not touching our faces or objects after touching the chicken and the importance of washing our hands thoroughly immediately afterwards.

We learned a lot from this hands-on lesson.
