During our visit to the Catalyst Museum in Widnes, to consolidate and extend our Electricity topic, we took part in a special workshop. In addition to making an electrical circuit, we had the opportunity to make our very own switches to control the circuit. Working in pairs, we to follow the scientific diagrams to be to make a range of switches. It was great to be work as engineers do.
Year 3D 21/22 Archive
During our visit to the Catalyst Museum in Widnes, we loved exploring the galleries. We had lots of amazing hands-on experiences! We used a green screen to become weather presenters. We investigated bugs under a microscope. We solved used air to create the biggest bubbles we’ve ever seen. We even made a giant cake case float in the air! It was so exciting. After the first gallery, we travelled three flights up in a glass lift. What amazing views we had! Once we reached the top floor, we had fun we solving geographical and physics puzzles, like real architects. It was so much fun and we discovered so much!
During our visit to the Catalyst Museum in Widnes, we had so much fun playing outside in the gorgeous sunshine. We had the chance to swing, climb, slide, run, roll, balance and ride on the zip wire. It was a fabulous time together.
As part of our Science Curriculum, we have been exploring circuits. We had fun using a circuit stick to explore completed and broken circuits.
We then used wires, cells and bulbs to make our own complete circuit, and discussed the similarities and differences between these and the ceiling light circuit in the classroom.
We had a fabulous World Book Day this year.
We dressed up as our favourite character or in our cosy pyjamas, ready to curl up with a good book. We also had the chance to enter into a competition to dress a potato as a book character. Mrs Davey was very impressed with our creativity.
Throughout the day, we read the story of Paddington and completed lots of work around what we’d read. Paddington himself delivered some of our best work, in his suitcase to Mr Quigley.
As part of our Forces and Magnets topic, we conducted our own fair test. We timed how fast a toy car would travel down a ramp of different surfaces and studied if those varied surfaces made a difference to the time. We concluded that they did. We observed the effects of friction.
Look at the wonderful shapes we have been able to create, as part of our Gymnastics topic! We worked together in twos or threes to come up with our own balance, which we had to rely on each other for, and keep it still to create a shape. It was great team work!
As part of our Rocks topics, we studied various rocks in very tiny detail. We used our magnifying glasses to study each rock and compare the similarities and differences.
As part of Children’s Mental Health Week, we ‘Dressed to Express!’ We could choose whichever outfit we wanted to come to school in, that expressed something about who we are as individuals. Some of us chose our favourite colours, favourite style, favourite team, or our inner super-hero. We just loved showing the world who we are!
As part of our history topic about Egypt, we all made a pyramid with lot of key facts which we have learned about this very important time in world history. We have loved this topic!
