Year 1/2 22/23 Archive
Express yourself day
Year 1/2 enjoyed celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week this year. The promotion of positive mental health and well-being is a key priority for us here at Holy Family. To make us feel happy we came into school wearing clothes to ‘express ourselves’. We had a brilliant day connecting with our friends.
Christmas
We had so much fun with all our Christmas activities. We took part in our Santa Dash which consisted of a range of exciting obstacles. We created our own Christmas cards for our family and enjoyed our Christmas hat competition. Our favourite Christmas activity was the movie and popcorn morning!
Design & Technology – Puppets
We used a variety of techniques to design and make our own Christmas puppets.
Bikeability
Year 1 had a brilliant time with Bikeability this week. The children are becoming more confident on their balance bikes and we now have some speedy cyclists.
Science- Using our senses
Within our Science topic we have been learning about our senses sight, taste, touch, smell and sound. We talked about which part of the body is associated with each sense and we performed a sense test to use our senses to identify items.
Democracy Day
The BIG vote! Today Year 1/2 learnt all about one of British Values-democracy and we all had the chance to vote for which treat we would like; chill out afternoon, extra play for a week, disco or movie afternoon with popcorn. We made the decision as individuals and the treat with the most votes across the school, will win. We can’t wait to find out the results!
