Early Years and Year 1 enjoyed participating in a celebration of Mary. They reflected on the special women in their lives and sang hymns and recited the Hail Mary. We ended our celebration by blowing a kiss to her picture. ✝️💜

We participated in Children’s Mental Health Day. We all came into school, dressed in something that made up feel happy. We all took part in a lovely wellbeing walk outside, following the actions along the ‘Daily Mile’ pathway while looking all around us at what we could see, hear, feel and smell. We all enjoyed participating in a variety of activities that helped up feel happy, calm and thankful, including making thank you cards for someone special in our lives and wellbeing head massages. We had a lovely day together!

Reception have really enjoyed celebrating International Kite Day! We have been learning all about kites and how they need wind to fly up in the sky. We designed and made our own kites ready to fly in our outdoor area. We had so much fun!

We have had so much fun exploring five nursery rhymes to celebrate ‘World Nursery Rhyme week’. This year’s nursery rhymes were ‘Incy Wincy Spider’, ‘Sleeping Bunnies’, ‘Wind the bobbin up, ‘Heads shoulders knees and toes’ and ‘Down in the jungle’.
We really enjoyed singing and signing along to each nursery rhyme each day and loved taking part in lots of fun and exciting activities to explore each rhyme.
As part of our ‘Come and See: Welcome’ theme, we have been learning about how we are welcomed into God’s family and how baptisms are very special occasions. We talked about the special parts of a baptism, who is there, what happens, what is said and what special things we can see during a baptism. We turned our classroom in ‘Holy Family Church’ and baptised ‘Baby Matthew’, and celebrated the baby being welcomed into God’s family.
Reception have loved learning all about the Jewish faith. We learnt about the celebration of Hanukkah and why it is celebrated for 8 days. We explored lots of different Jewish artefacts, including a Kiapph, a Dreidel and the Torah. We made our own painted Menorahs using our handprints and colouring pencils, using the scissors to cut them out carefully. We had lots of fun singing and dancing to traditional Jewish music and the ‘Dreidel song’.
In Reception we love dressing up in lots of different costumes and pretending to be different characters! We use our imaginations and use super language and different vocabulary to pretend we are different people. We have lots of fun!
