Year 6B: Art and Design – Design

Year 6B thoroughly enjoyed our Art Day working on developing a range of skills such as painting, drawing, craft and design. We began the day by exploring the ‘The Japanese Footbridge’ by Claude Monet (1922). Mixing a range of colours we then worked hard to apply the paint in his style, taking care not to leave any white areas in our painting. Next, we spent time creating repeated Zentangle patterns. When we were happy with our designs, we chose our favourite one to transfer onto a polystyrene tile.  Carefully, we applied an even layer of ink onto the tile before printing onto a piece of fabric.  Finally, we had a design brief to design and make a hat for a specific purpose. In pairs, we worked on our designs before creating our hats using a variety of materials.

What a fantastic day we had!
