World Mental Health Day - Chill out Day

On Wednesday 10th October, it was ‘World Mental Health Day’.  Once again, as a school, we were keen to take part in this important event by raising awareness on this matter.  To support our children’s mental health and well-being we decided to hold our ‘chill out day’ on the same day. The day was a ‘HelloYellow’ well-being and chill out day, following this year’s theme from ‘YoungMinds’ (the UK’s leading charity championing the wellbeing and mental health of young people).

The children were invited to wear a yellow accessory with their own clothes on this day, such as: yellow socks, yellow cardigan, yellow hair accessory etc to help raise awareness on emotional health and well-being.  We also provided the children with yellow wrist bands to wear during the day.

Our aim was to support the emotional well-being and positive mental health of our children by encouraging them to talk to someone if they’re struggling to cope with a situation. The day will began with a ‘HelloYellow’ well-being assembly carried out by our Year 3/4FM class.  Throughout the day, the children took part in emotional health and well-being activities in a chilled out way.
