Early Years and Year 1 enjoyed participating in a celebration of Mary. They reflected on the special women in their lives and sang hymns and recited the Hail Mary. We ended our celebration by blowing a kiss to her picture. ✝️💜
We LOVED Science week! We were very lucky to receive a very special visit from Mrs Jarvis who works for Draeger. We learnt all about how science can help to protect, support and save lives.
We were very competitive carrying out our experiment to find out if we could beat the Guinness World record for the longest Curly Wurly stretched in 3 minutes. We were not able to beat the record of 4m 26cm but we did have lots of fun.
We had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. The theme for our World Book day was Paddington Bear. We enjoyed reading the story and learnt all about how Paddington Bear loves to eat marmalade sandwiches. We created our set of instructions informing Paddington how to make them and we followed the instructions to create our own delicious marmalade sandwiches. Yummy!
We have gained so much knowledge during our ‘Minibeasts’ topic this term.
We enjoyed observing, identifying and classifying a range of minibeasts during various activities.
We had a lovely walk around Halewood Triangle as we focused on our Mental Health. We learnt lots of interesting facts about each other and had so much fun learning how to communicate in Makaton.
We have been exploring and examining a range of printing and colour mixing techniques. We also learnt about the artist Louis Wain and worked together to understand his story within his artwork.
Year 1 enjoyed their’ Chronicles of Conservation’ session listening to interactive stories based around the environmental challenges we face today. The children enjoyed using props to bring the story to life and inspire them to care for the world around them.
Year 2 enjoyed their ‘Move like me Roadshow’ session learning about sustainability and conservation. The children used a variety of safari props and equipment, as they imagined to be animals in an active rainforest.
Year 1/2 were very excited to examine the taste and texture of a range of fruit and vegetables. They very sensibly handled and prepared the fruit and created their very own fruit salad.
Year 1/2D have been working hard to practise their throwing, catching and shooting skills.
We have been exploring the three elements of art: shape, line and colour. We mixed and painted with secondary colours to create our own paintings influenced by the artist Jasper Johns. We also used circles to create abstract art compositions inspired by the work of Beatriz Milhazes and created our own water piece inspired by David Hockney and Vija Celmins.
