Children In Need
Reception really enjoyed participating in lots of Children in Need activities as part of Children in Need day. Our favourite activity was making our very own Pudsey Bear masks, complete with a glittery bandage!

Reception have really enjoyed learning all about Judaism this week. We loved learning about the story of Hanukkah and how Jewish people celebrate the Festival of Lights. We all had the opportunity to handle some very special Jewish artefacts, including the Menorah, Kippah, Dreidel, and Torah. We made our own Menorah using our handprints, playdough and paper, and especially loved singing the song ‘Shalom, my friend’.
As part of our theme ‘All about me’, we painted our own self-portraits. We also looked at the famous painted ‘Van Gogh’ to see how he used paint to paint his own self portrait. We used mirrors to look at our faces as we painted, and enjoyed using the paintbrushes to create our masterpieces!
We’ve had a very SPOOKTACULAR time in Reception this Halloween! We have loved participating in so many Halloween themed activities, which have helped us to strengthen our funky fingers and explore sensory play. They included making our own pumpkin potions, mystical magical potions by squeezing the magic liquid into the tubes using the pippettes, making Witches brew by scooping different amounts of coloured rice into the cauldron, using the tweezers to pick up the Halloween objects, as well as stirring the Witch’s cauldron to find rhyming ingredients. Happy Halloween!🎃
Reception have absolutely loved exploring repeating patterns as part of our maths theme. We have participated in so many different activities where we could explore, recognise and create our own repeating patterns, including making Autumn repeating patterns using natural resources, using wooden blocks or printing sponges to create repeating patterns on jellyfish, and cheerio hoops to make Halloween repeating pattern wands, which we could eat!
We had lots of fun participating in our ‘Bikeability’ sessions. We all had the opportunity to ride a balance bike, practicing our balancing skills and co-ordination. It was so much fun!
