Ash Wednesday

Reception classes received their ashes today.

Ash Wednesday is a Christian Festival. It marks the beginning of Lent. During Lent Christians often choose to give up things to help them remember the time that Jesus fasted in the wilderness. Many Christian churches hold special services on Ash Wednesday. During the service people are marked on the forehead with ashes. Ashes are a symbol of being sorry for things they have done wrong. The ashes are made by burning the palm crosses that were made and blessed during last years Palm Sunday services.
